'World's Strongest Latte' Hits Store Shelves with Four Times the Caffeine of Starbucks

Sometimes the best way to get people's attention is to have a gimmick—and as you can tell by the name, Death Wish Coffee has a gimmick. Years ago, the New York-based company burst onto the scene with a high-octane pitch: the World's Strongest Coffee. (Though it has had its challengers.) But if Starbucks has taught us anything, it's that lots of people prefer their coffee in latte form, meaning Death Wish's latest product was probably inevitable: introducing the World's Strongest Latte.

Sold in ready-to-drink 8-ounce cans, Death Wish Coffee's latte contains 300 milligrams of caffeine—four times the amount you'd find in an equal size pour of Starbuck's Caffe Latte—and is billed as being "made with USDA Certified Organic ingredients" for "a strong yet smooth and indulgent taste." The 170-calorie beverage is made with milk, "but does not need to be refrigerated until [the] can is opened."

"The challenge of producing a great-tasting product while embracing the necessity for it to be the strongest and figuring out how to accomplish this organically is no small task," Steve Frania, vice president of sales for Death Wish (how's that for a title?!), said in the announcement. "I couldn't be prouder of the product and the experience our customers will have when they take their first of many sips. The World's Strongest Latte adds an indulgent option to our ready-to-drink line."

Eric Donovan, the company's vice president of business development, added, "It took a long time for us to get it exactly the way we wanted it, but the final product was worth the wait." Death Wish says the development of their ready-to-drink beverages took over two years.

The World's Strongest Latte is Death Wish's third RTD cans. It joins its 300-milligram brethren the Death Wish Unsweetened Black Cold Brew and Death Wish Slightly Sweetened Black Cold brew—both of which were released in 2019. All three products can be bought in 12- and 24-packs online. The brand also boasts that its products can be found in 14,000 stores nationwide.
