Today was a beautiful first day for the new spring. The clouds broke and the sun shone through shining brightly in the icy snow everywhere. The creek began to thaw, and as we walked from BC SIS to the park, we talked about all the beautiful things we had experienced over the winter break. Many of us had seen the coopers hawk trolling for songbirds near the school that day. When we arrived at the park, we found a giant snowball four feet across lying in a field. Naturally, we tried climbing it, pushing it, rolling it, and throwing snowballs at it, before settling on throwing snowballs at each other. When we were all warmed up from running around, we made a circle and gathered to share our gratitude and welcome our newest instructor, Ray. After circle and snack, we ventured down the creek to look for tracks, but found that two of our instructors were missing! This led to a focused search, following our instructors’ tracks to solve the mystery of their whereabouts.
As the day drew to a close and the sun made its way toward the far side of the mountains, we were joined by Lorene for one last game of “avalanche on the mountain.”
It was wonderful to see you all again after a long and (hopefully) restful break.
Until next time…
