Karen Shimizu is the Executive Editor of Food & Wine. A seasoned editor and journalist who has worked on magazines, websites, cookbooks, and newspapers, Karen has been helping to shape the way national media brands cover global food culture for over 15 years.


Karen previously served as an editor at Rodale’s Organic Life (a short-lived but spunky sustainable lifestyle brand) and at Saveur magazine.


Karen holds a master’s degree in Cultural Reporting and Criticism from New York University and a B.A. in American Studies from Smith College. In 2020, she completed the Birmingham, Alabama-based Momentum Executive Leadership Program.
